Cheri’s tear-filled eyes and clipped speech betrayed her tension as she approached the volunteer at the check-in desk in the clothing bank.
“I just couldn’t get here on my shopping day. I didn’t have anyone to watch my kids and we need shoes for the cold weather. The kids have grown out of everything.”
When she finished, the volunteer spoke to her in a quiet voice and assured her that it wasn’t a problem. She could shop right now! Thirty minutes later, Cheri left the clothing bank with shoes and clothes for her children. She also felt less stress and hope for the future.
