Jessica’s Story

On April 17, 2018

Jessica came to St. Francis House back in October feeling a bit scared and overwhelmed. She had just been laid off of work and her family of five was now trying to live off of one income. “There’s enough money to pay our rent, but not much else,” she told the registration volunteer. Jessica shopped that day getting some much-needed clothing for her three young children. She was even able to select Christmas gifts in December for her children.

Just a few weeks ago, we saw Jessica shopping in the clothing bank. This time there was hope in her eyes and lightness in her step. She had just received a full-time job with Indeed and was going back to work the following week. We were able to give her a few extra clothes for her new job. “You all have helped us so much through this tough transition. The Christmas gifts were a huge help last year. We are so grateful for everything!” Jessica said as she embraced the volunteer with a huge hug.
